I have always been very diligent about protecting my skin from the sun. But since I moved back to the Southwest I am taking it way more seriously than I did when living in Oregon. In my research I discovered AKT Therapy, and this is the brand I’ll be talking to y’all about today.
AKT Therapy was created by Janus Auermann, getting inspiration from local markets, flavors and scents from all over the world. She wanted to create potent formulas that would also protect our skin from the sun. For her, using clean ingredients was a non-negotiable. After living in Baja, Mexico, she knew there was no other way around it. Nature really has the best ingredients and she wanted to take advantage of it.

Her thought behind AKT Therapy was to create a luxurious but uncomplicated skincare that would make the skin feel and look better after each use. The line features a few products that work great with each other but also on their own. I will explain a bit about each of the products in a moment but first I need to address other aspects of the brand that make it a great brand.
As I mentioned, there are only a few products in the line, and this was on purpose. By creating fewer multitasking products, there’s less product cluttering your skincare shelf, and the plant. They also work very closely with their trusted and knowledgeable suppliers, so they keep a close eye in where their ingredients come from. As for the packaging, they think about every little thing. Their shipping boxes are made with recycled materials and the ink is algae based. As for the bottles, they are all made of glass. They are also cruelty free, and they offset carbon emissions and support the work of IDA.

elemental sun balm
This multitasker is amazing. It acts as a balm, mineral sunscreen and makeup base. It has a super buttery texture that melts on your skin and leaves it looking dewy and with a touch of color. Even when you don’t wear makeup, it makes your skin feel alive and glowy. If you want to skip steps on your routine (or do a bunch at one time) this is a great product for that. You can use this as your moisturizer right after washing your face if you are in a hurry and you don’t have to worry about dry or unprotected skin. I have been reaching for this one during the winter time, now that my skin is less tan and I just love how it leaves my skin moisturized, even in dry cold weather.
d-luxe daily bronzer
This is my top choice during the summer months. I cannot tell you how much I love this product and how good it makes my skin look. Because I try to keep my face away from the sun at all times, it tends to look much paler than my body in the summer. But this product gives it the perfect amount of color while still protecting my skin (It is also a mineral sunscreen base). I barely use any foundation when I’m using this one because the color is just perfect. The only thing is that I have to be careful when I’m using anything with a collar because I can get it stained if I’m not careful.
Rad face oil
This oil has to be one of the most luxurious oils I have ever tried. It leaves my skin feeling incredibly moisturized and soft without a greasy feeling. At the same time that it leaves a glow that makes my skin look and feel healthy and happy. It has a delicious subtle scent thanks to the organic cherry kernel oil, which is also full of antioxidants and fatty acids. It definitely has a higher price tag but if you can afford it, it really is worth every dollar.
after sun botanical toner
This toner is one of the best toner I have ever tried period. I feel like it makes a difference on my skin, specially with this dry weather. It is made with labrador tea which I recently discovered has skin healing properties and aloe vera juice. I also love that it comes in a bigger presentation than usual. I have used it after spending some time in the sun and it immediately calms my skin and makes it feel refreshed and relaxed.
Overall, this products are amazing, I love the ingredients, their sustainability approach and their effectiveness. After all this years of testing different products, I’ve learned what my skin needs. Moisturizing oils and a good spf routine, and AKT Therapy has just that. The simple but effective ingredients make this a great brand that will leave your skin feeling like a baby’s bum. Oh so soft.
