Not too long ago I shared on YouTube my tips on how to get the perfect manicure with Dazzle Dry. I wanted to have all of those tips for you in writing for you to come back and reference. Some people prefer videos and others blog posts, and I’m here to appease you so, here we are.
I have another blog post talking about Dazzle Dry (you can read it here). So this time I won’t give too much details of how The System works.
I’ve been using Dazzle Dry for a few years and I think I nailed down (pun intended) my manicure game. And for not being an expert, I think my results are purtty good. So follow me while I enlighten you with my knwoledge. NOT. ok but do follow me please.
prep time
I always begin by washing my hands, this helps not only to clean the nails of dirt but also helps softening the cuticles. I then like to push my cuticles, which most of the times I push with my nails. I find this is the easiest way to truly push all of the cuticle and not only the “first layer.” I also do this sometimes when I’m done with my shower which is the best because that’s when they are even softer. I recently read that it might not be so good to cut the cuticle and I’ve noticed it grows slower now.
remove hang nails
For these, I do like to use a cuticle clipper. I find that I don’t get as many when my nails are done, which is a huge plus, but on the ocassions I give my nails a break, I see a few growing. Since they are super painful, I prefer to get rid of them as soon as I feel them. And never, ever, bite them off, most times I draw blood, so, no bueno.
clip/file time
Because my nails grow super fast, I clip them at least once a week. I would file them but it would take me too long and time is precious. But once I cut them, I like to go over with a file and make sure they are smooth and even, and then I file the sides to get a cleaner look.
Once I’m done filing, I wash my hands one more time to get rid of all that dust.
time to begin the system with nail prep
Using the Nail Prep is super important, as it helps clean the nails of oils or residue. And instead of using a cotton ball, I recommend you use a cotton cloth so that the cotton fibers don’t get stuck.
apply base coat
You need to apply two layers of base coat, letting them completely dry before moving to the next layer/step.
LEt’s get some color
Time for Nail Lacquer! This is of course the hardest part, even though it is not as hard once I tell you this trick. You first give the bottle a good mix by rubbing it between your palms, never grabbing it from the cap and shaking it upside down.
Then you place the hand you are painting on a hard surface, I recommend a table not your leg. Remove the cap and wipe clean one side of the brush and apply starting in the middle by your cuticle, you go up, then remove the brush and go back to the same starting point and move the brush to one side, then do the same to the other side. You can come back in the middle one more time if you want. This way you won’t see all the brushstrokes and it will have a cleaner look by the cuticle area. This was a game changer for me.
I like to do 3-4 coats and because it dries so fast, I still don’t take long when I do them.
top coat
Yay! We are almost done. Now all you need to do is apply a generous coat of the top coat. This will make your nails be super shiny and will protect the nail lacquer from chipping.
Depending on the color, the nail lacquer finish might be dull, but fret not because the top coat will make it all look better.
Cleaning up
I sometimes get some of the product on my fingers. And when this happens, once the nails are completely dry, I like to go over with a manicure brush to remove all the excess. It comes off really easily almost like dried Elmer’s glue.
WHEN THE BASE COAT GETS CLOUDY
The Base Coat has to be crystal clear when you are about to use it. So when it gets cloudy, you have to place the bottle on hot water for a few minutes and it will be as good as new! What I like to do before starting my manicure is pouring about 1 inch of hot water in a glass and then place my base coat bottle there while I prep my nails.
Using REVIVE
Revive for me is a game changer. It helps the nail lacquers and top coat to last longer. When they start to get super sticky and thick, that’s the moment when you can use Revive to bring them back to life.
All you have to do is use the dropper and apply a few drops in the bottle in question, close it, mix it in real good, and repeat, until you get the consistency back to perfect.
Once you are done using Revive, put the original cap back on. Otherwise the the liquid can evaporate if you leave the dropper in.
