Today I am bringing you my spa skincare routine with Pevonia. I was approached by the brand to receive some products in exchange of my opinion of them. And after doing a little bit of research about the brand, I was very intrigued.
about the brand
Pevonia was really one of the pioneers in green and clean beauty, and was the first to develop a spa skincare line. All their products are made without SLS, GMOs, PABA, Urea, Lanolin, Formaldehyde, Alcohol, Parabens, Mineral Oil, Gluten, and Artificial Colors/Fragrance. They focus on phyto-organic and natural ingredients that are good for you and the environment. It is also Cruelty Free and a member of the Organic Trade Association and holds a CTN Green Excellence Award. Their products also come in post-consumer recyclable/reusable packaging.
the products
I received two products at first, the cleanser and the lip balm. And then after talking to their PR team, I had the opportunity to get three more of my own choosing. This is what I got:
- Phyto-Gel Cleanser
- Rapid Restore Lip Balm
- Enzymo-sphérides® Peeling Cream
- Lumafirm® Eye Contour Lift & Glow
- Power Repair® Micro-Pores Bio-Active Mask
Since they have such a wide variety of products I decided to go more into specifics. First, I wanted something to help with my pores, which is something I’ve always struggled with. So I selected the Peeling Cream and the Micro-Pores Bio-Active Mask. Secondly, I wanted something to help diminish the fine lines on my under eye area. For this last concern, I was able to have an Educator to really recommend the best product to target that problem. That product was the Eye Contour Lift & Glow.
Only by looking at the products online, I was already impressed. The price is a bit higher than what I usually spend, but being a spa line is so worth it. I was not very worried since all the reviews on the website were so good.
the ingredients
As for the ingredients, I did a quick check, first on Think Dirty, then on the EWG Skindeep Database. They all rated pretty good with most ingredients rating up to 4. I just have to make a note in case you want to check yourself (which I always recommend). The ingredients shown on the Think dirty app seem to be inaccurate, making them rate much higher than they should. A lot of them seem to be showing parabens of some type, which is not the case and you can check on their website.
What I did find is from the products that I have, all contain phenoxyethanol. Depending on the usage, this ingredient rates 2-4 on EWG Database. And by reading the ingredient list on each product, Phenoxyethanol is listed mostly by the end. For me that is no concern specially after looking at the quality of the rest of the ingredients and the effectiveness.
So now let me share with you more about each product and my skincare routine with Pevonia.
phyto-gel cleanser
I now know that a good cleanser doesn’t have to be super foaming. In fact, the best cleansers I have tried aren’t. This one is equal parts gentle and effective. I cleanse my skin in the am to remove oil, and in the pm to remove makeup, spf, dirt, etc. This cleanser works on both skincare routines.
I like to do a short 1 min massage while I am cleansing my skin, and I feel like it really helps the cleanser go above and beyond. Sometimes, mostly in the am, I use my rotating facial brush with the silicone brush and it feels amazing as well. I usually go for 2 pumps, but if I am using a lot of makeup that day I go for 3.
The scent is very botanical and not overpowering and it has a gel-like texture (hence the name haha).
RAPID RESTORE LIP BALM
I’ve been using lip balm for quite some time before bed because my lips get super dry. The only purpose was to not get chapped lips. But as I started using this one, mainly at night, I noticed a difference right away.
Not that I had super noticeable wrinkles, but I could see the creases on the contour of my lips from drinking from straws and things like that. So, after using this product for about 3-4 weeks now, I have drastically noticed that my lips feel and look smoother, even the contour area. And not only that but my lips look fuller. And having a really thin upper lip, this makes me very very happy. It was noticeable to the point that my husband noticed.
I only wish I had taken before and after pictures to compare, but I’m telling you just rubbing them against each other I can feel the difference.
Enzymo-Spherides® peeling cream
This product I have used all of three times and I already can notice a difference on my skin. This product eliminates black heads, dead skin cells, deep clogging and brightens complexion. It also prepares the skin for any further treatments. So, even though I picked this product without knowing, is perfect to prep the skin for the mask.
With the word peeling on the name you would think this product would be a little aggressive. Or at least that is what I thought, but it is sooo not. It is really creamy and easy to apply on your skin. It comes with a cute little applicator that makes it super easy to apply without contaminating the product with your hands. There is absolutely no tingling and it feels so silky on the skin.
The instructions indicate to use a wet fingers to help spread the product around the face. You then leave it on for two minutes and rinse with warm water. The team at Pevonia advised me to use the Phyto-gel cleanser to remove this cream and so I have been doing that. After that you can then proceed with the masks.
micro-pores bio-active mask
This mask is a true powerhouse. Some benefits include minimize pores, evens complexion and texture and deeply hydrates. And I have truly seen all of this benefits on my face already. And again, I have only used it about 3 times as well. It comes in a tube so it is very easy to apply, I just apply with my fingertips and it glides very smoothly on the skin. After 15 minutes you rinse with cool water and follow it with toner. And I have been using it after the peeling cream only, not by itself just yet.
This mask is also not at all aggressive, it feels just like a lotion. And once you put it on it looks slightly like you applied a sunblock and you have the white-ish cast.
Altogether with the peeling cream, I have been noticing a true difference on my skin, my pores look much smaller and overall my skin looks great, and you can even notice it when I’m wearing makeup. It does make my complexion looks smoother and cleaner if that makes any sense.
These last two products I have been using once a week, but they can be used twice a week. It is my little skincare routine spa day with Pevonia. I feel like if I continue to get this process going my skin is going to be feeling and looking even more amazing.
LUMAFIRM EYE CONTOUR LIFT & GLOW
I already told you about the concern I had with my fine lines on my under eye area. I had been trying several products for the under eye and some did help a little or for some time but not to the extent I was looking for. That is why I was very focused on getting a product that would be effective on this matter. My wrinkles are not super super noticeable but I do wanted to target that problem before it was too late.
I haven’t looked at my before and after pictures but I you can totally tell that the wrinkles are much less noticeable. They look softer and my concealer doesn’t set on the creases anymore. And its just been something like a month that I’ve been using it. So I’m sure that it will still help me much more as the time passes. This is a product that I had been manifesting on so I am very happy to have found it. Will definitely be a staple on my skincare routine.
Final thoughts
Overall I think this products are amazing, I am very happy to have had the opportunity to try and share this products with you. I definitely want to try more. The fact that they can mix science and nature to create this spa quality line is incredible. And having such a wide range of products that target very specific concerns, I’m sure anyone can incorporate Pevonia to their skincare routine. I can think of a few people like my mom that has tried some products I have recommended and would not work as effectively on her skin. And even for me, not having found a product to target things like my under eye wrinkles was starting to concern me some. I will definitely start recommending this brand to people feel confident that it is extremely effective and strong enough for all ages.
And you know as I said in the beginning, Pevonia is a spa skincare line first and foremost. I can only imagine the results of having an expert using this products on your face. That is why I used the Find a Spa option on their website to find an aesthetician that uses Pevonia products and I found one very close to me! I will definitely be making an appointment once this lockdown is over. I did a quick check and I found that there are spas all over the world that use and carry Pevonia!
