Life Lately: October Recap

November 9, 2023 in LIFE

I thought I could start writing these recaps of the month because time is literally slipping through my hands. I started my October recap last Thursday, which was already late. But will keep on doing them as months come to a close. Because I’ve decided I’m taking social media down a notch, I want to still share with you little snippets of my life but in a way that doesn’t feel overwhelming. Bottom line is I don’t want to be glued to my phone anymore. Also, I still want to share what I am thinking and loving at that moment. What do you think?

It feels like so much is happening at the same time as well, maybe because it is. There have been very few times that I have felt as powerless as I have these past month. Just realizing how many people, innocent kids and babies specially, are suffering is really affecting me. And with good reason I think.

On top of that seeing how people are tearing each other apart on social media, it has caused me anxiety to the point of not sleeping. I wish I could to something that would truly impact and help those who are in need. Other than donating money, I feel like I am screaming at a wall.

My birthday’s on October 24th and never liked that it was so close to Halloween. I never bothered to decorate for it. Maybe I dressed up once or twice between my late teens and 20s. Well that was before, but this, our first year with M, we had to start our new Halloween traditions.

We only decorated the outside of the house a bit but it was still fun. As the years go by I might start doing some decorations for inside. We dressed up as the Addams family, Luis-Gomez, Lola-Wednesday, M-Pubert and I-Morticia. Except for my wig that I purchased and Lola’s which I did with yarn, everything else we already had. I made a little dramatic makeup, painted a little stache on M and we were set for giving out candy.

a closer look at Lola’s “wig” and neck detail.

I also created this recipe for healthy protein pancakes in the shapes of ghosts and they were a hit. M can’t eat solids yet but I know he is going to love them when he is older. I would love to make these for Halloween morning.

Finally found a solution to my postpartum hair loss and it is a super easy and cheap recipe to make. I was so surprised of not only how effective it was but how quickly it worked. Even Luis has been using it and we noticed a difference right away. I’ll share the steps to make it here very soon.

I also started stocking up on sweaters for the upcoming winter (if it ever arrives.) I ended up getting some from my birthday that I had been eyeing for a while from Cider (this one and this one.) They are so similar I know, but I can’t resist a good stripe apparently. Also got two that I had saved on Poshmark since last year. I have one of these &other stories sweaters in a different color and I loved how versatile and non itchy it was, so I had to get some more.

I also managed to finally get my Terra & co blog post published. And I want to thank everyone that has given it a read. I dive a little into the oral microbiome definition in it as well so if you are interested in a very simple explanation about it it might be worth a read.

So that’s it, let’s see what November has in store, hopefully some cooler weather, and maybe, I don’t know, world peace would be great.

Love,

Luisa C
