Even though it’s been forever since I last posted, it doesn’t mean I’m not working hard on trying out new products to show you! This time I am very very VERY excited to talk about these products. And since we are celebrating today as Earth Day, it is only appropriate to talk about products that are made with our planet in mind as much as our health. Let’s talk about Eco Daisy Home cleaning products.
Since I began living conscious, I notice that taking a less selfish approach made it easier to make it stick. Not only do the products or everything you use affect you, but they also affect the planet in a way. Either you flush it down the drain, throw it in the trash, or its animal tested, it does harm in some way.
Home cleaning products have some of the most harmful ingredients. You are breathing them constantly, when cleaning, and basically just living around your house. I’ll talk more about these concerns on a future blog post. But right now let me introduce you to Eco Daisy Home cleaning products. A great of eco-friendly, safe and natural brand.
THE BRAND
Eco Daisy Home products were created by Dr. Priscilla Johnson, an awesome #momboss with a PhD in environmental engineering and Director of Water Strategy for Microsoft. Priscilla created Eco Daisy because she couldn’t find products that met her standards of environmental safety, efficacy and purity. She was very concerned about what she was putting down the drain. She didn’t want any aquatic life to be harmed due to the ingredients she was using.
The result? These amazing products. I have been using them all, and I am amazed at how good and effective the products are. Having used non-toxic products for a long time I had found that they either smelled to earthy, or they just weren’t strong enough. Specially talking about the bathroom and kitchen. Well, these products not only work extremely well, but they also smell great. This is the scent I imagine when I think clean.
BATHROOM CLEANER
One thing I absolutely hate is taking the time to clean something or somewhere, and it not getting totally clean. I have found this product has helped me so much into getting the bathrooms into their best shape again. The tub looks nice and shiny, with no grime or soap scum. The sink looks nice and clean with no oily residue, and one other place I love to use it is the toilet. I like to add a little bit of borax so that it gets nice and scrubby to make sure I get everything that is in there (sorry peeps, just keeping it real). It helps me feel more at ease that I truly gave it a good clean before moving on.
I like that Ionly need this product for the bathroom instead of a bunch of different ones. It definitely makes it less dreadful of a chore. And the nice clean scent makes it all even better!
LAUNDRY DETERGENT
Laundry detergent was one of the very first things I switched when I started my green journey. When I was still living at home I was started doing my laundry with soap nuts. I loved using the soap nuts, I still do love using them. But I have found that they are not that effective with stinky gym clothes. I was having to add a vinegar rinse to the clothes and washing them in hot water in order for the clothes not smell as bad. Add to this that the washing machine in my rental takes forever, it was a whole day ordeal. And tbh, I’d rather spend my time writing posts and taking pictures than doing laundry.
This meant that the Eco Daisy detergent came at a perfect timing. The first thing that I wanted to wash was of course the much dreaded gym clothes. Passed with flying colors, and the best part is that you only need 2 capfuls for a normal load. The second thing I washed with it was my white sheets. I can’t tell you enough how white they look. And even using my face and body oils, I don’t worry anymore.
It even leaves a very faint scent that I can only describe as “delicious freshness”. Nothing fake or overly empowering, just a very subtle hint of freshness. Plus, you don’t need a laundry softener, something you can’t say about Tide.
DISH SOAP
Washing dishes is definitely one of the worst chores in the whole world. It might be because I take forever. That is why I require the use of a dishwasher (I use a safe, non toxic soap there too, will share soon). But of course there are a few things I cannot put in the dishwasher. And for those, I am use this soap! It’s been hard finding a good dish soap that is truly effective. Even with grease from the occasional meat preparation (L still eats meat from time to time). I have found this one cleans very well, has a great smell, and creates a lot of foam.
Now I feel very comfortable that I can even wash Lola’s dishes without feeling guilty.
MULTIPURPOSE CLEANER
This baby right here, has actually gotten me excited to clean my kitchen real good every day. Before this one I was using one of the Mrs. Myers multipurpose cleaners, which, if you don’t know by now, it’s not really a squeaky clean brand.
So ever since I got this new cleaner, the Mrs. Myers one has gone to the back of the cupboard, and will stay there. I am now using this one everyday and for basically everything. I use it in basically every surface that needs wiping and it works perfectly. It has that same super fresh scent, which is awesome since everybody likes to smell nice things, right? I know I do. This product proves that you don’t need that Lysol, Pinalen or Mr. Clean toxic cocktails to keep your home clean. Thank u, next hunny 🙂
AIR FRESHENER
Ugh you guys! I don’t have to compromise on my home smelling like the safe haven it is! I like to spray this one every day after tidying up and it is the perfect final touch. For so long I thought that a clean scent like this one couldn’t be made with clean ingredients. I thought that I would have to stick to essential oil based scents, which are not really my jam. I like my scents natural but not spicy, and this one is just that.
It is not too strong, so there are no headaches involved. And of course no toxic ingredients that would be otherwise inhaling with products like Air Wick. It is also a big bottle so it will last a long time.
GLASS CLEANER
I had been using this one on mirrors and glass and it works perfectly. But only last week it occurred to me to try it on my stainless steel appliances, and OMG! No more wipe marks, finger prints or food stains! They look brand new. So keep it in mind if you have ss appliances.
Now you can ditch your windex and clean your windows and mirrors and glass coffee tables with confidence, trusting that you are not harming you, your family (pets included) or the earth’s health. Isn’t that the best feeling?
Each of the Eco Daisy products come in a bundle of 2 and the bottles are all 32 oz except for the dish soap, which come in 25 oz bottles. Their blue bottles are recyclable and can also be reused for other home made products ( I’m thinking of using one for a vinegar rinse for my hair that I could keep in the shower). The prices are pretty accessible, ranging from $18-26, and looking at how much of the products you really need on a daily basis, it is worth every penny. Eco Daisy Home products are just what you need to start detoxing your home.
where can you get them?
Right now you can get all Eco Daisy home products on their website (affiliate link), and you can get 10% of your first order. Also, if you buy 12+ bottles you get an automatic 10% discount too.
