My biggest goal when it came to hair was to find the perfect effortless look. But at the same time, I wasn’t bothering with doing anything with it other than some shampoo, and maybe some conditioner every once in a while. It wasn’t until I started using clean hair products by MO MI that I saw the difference a good hair routine can do.

MO MI is all about creating clean hair products that are kind to animals and the planet. Diane, the founder, was inspired to create MO MI just learning from her own heritage and her life traveling through Asia. The products are meant to be easy, uncomplicated and with health in mind.
MO MI’s clean hair products range from shampoos, conditioners, mists, a serum, and even some shampoos for pups. All of the products work great for all hair types and they are infused with adaptogens and botanical ingredients. They contain no silicones, or parabens and they are cruelty free.
I made a video earlier this year where I talked about a few of their products that they very kindly sent for me to try. And my hair and I loved them so much that we started working together and now I have tried almost all of their products.
Just recently they have started expanding from haircare and have dropped a line of botanical mists and essential oil blends. And let me tell you, this just makes sense because all of their hair products have the most incredible relaxing scents. And let me tell you, they transport you straight to a spa. The only thing missing, somebody washing my hair for me.

What about the packaging you ask? As you probably know, I am making it a huge part of my life to be more sustainable. And well, I am very happy to say that MO MI has opted for aluminum and glass bottles. They are not only very easily recyclable, you can always reuse them, and they look very nice on my shower.
Clean hair products
I want to give you a few markers about each product category and how I used them. I find that everyone does their hair routinet a bit different but I thought of sharing my tips. Who knows? Maybe I’ll help somebody.
Shampoos:
The Balancing Shampoo is a great shampoo that will bring your hair to back to life. It brings balance back to your hair, not only from oils and dirt, but also from environmental stressors. The scent is lovely and even though it doesn’t lather much, it leaves my hair feeling clean without drying it.
The Shampoo + Shower is their latest addition to the shampoo collection, and it serves both as a hair and body wash. The smell is amazing and is a great multitasker product. Although if I’m honest, I use it as a body wash only on special occasions.
The Clarifying Shampoo is perfect to help strip your hair of all the buildup from styling products and hard water. I focus extra on my scalp when I’m using it to make sure I get the residue off my hair. I also love how gentle and effective it is.
CONDITIONERS:
The Strengthen & Restore Conditioner is great your routine wash, it leaves your hair feeling super soft and light weight. I can even feel how my hair changes when I apply it. As soon as it penetrates it immediately feels softer and super manageable.
The Cleansing Conditioner is best for conditioner only washing and great for curly hair types 2c to 4c. It can also be used on finer hair you just require less product. I haven’t tried this one out but it sounds incredible. It works a bit similar to the Clarifying shampoo but with a more moisturizing factor. It works specially well for those that don’t have super oily hair and scalp.
styling and maitaining treatments
The Leave In Conditioner is perfect. Not super greasy, and I feel it penetrates so well when my hair is towel dried. It leaves my hair the most relaxed and soft. I use it only on wash days but the softness lasts until my next wash day.
The Protect & Nourish Serum was a life changer for my dry ends. I have been dyeing my hair this summer and my ends have been suffering the most. Using this serum on either towel dried or dry dry hair has been helping them a lot. They don’t feel like straw hay anymore. It is oil based so you don’t need a lot to spread it around. I find that 3 drops around the ends and 3 for the rest is perfect for my length/type/amount of hair. It is also great to keep your nails moisturized so I usually massage a bit on them after I’m done applying it on my hair. It is wonderful and not sticky.
The Hydrating Mist is what I use on the days when I don’t wash my hair, it freshens up my locks and gives them a bit of shine without any greasiness. It smells absolutely fabulous and instantly puts me in a good mood.
The Texture Mist is great for adding and keeping the texture on your hair. I use it as a last step when I use my styling tools and it works wonders to set my hair. It is kind of like a light hair spray, it holds the hair well without making it crunchy and stiff. I was surprised of how well it worked even with the heat that we have here.
The Styling Jelly has my absolute favorite scent. But not only that, this jelly has amazing hold, and as the texture mist, doesn’t make the hair crunchy. It works perfectly to hold my relaxed waves (for days even) and slick buns. I have also used it on my moms super curly hair and it works very well too.
The Dry Shampoo is the product that I use the most. Mainly because I wash my hair every 3-4 days, so it helps me keep the excess oil at bay. I actually got a recommendation from the MO MI team to use it the day I wash my hair. That has made a huge difference, my hair can go way longer without washing and not look miserable. It comes in powder form and the applicator makes it easy to not to use too much. I point it directly at the hair and then spread it around with my fingers.
The Scalp Essence is one of the latest products I have tried and it is absolutely delightful. It helps to moisturize the scalp and I love that it doesn’t leave an oily residue, in fact it seems like my scalp loves it and just absorbs it without leaving any residue behind. My scalp tends to flake on the top a bit sometimes and so this essence has helped with that issue so much. Most days I can’t see any flaking now. This essence can be used along with the Gua Sha Comb, and let me tell you, it is a treat. It is both relaxing and great for circulation, releasing tension and promotes shine to your hair. It is a great way to take care of your mind, hair and scalp at the same time.
I will have to do another post for their botanical mists and their eo blends because they need their very own spotlight, plus I don’t want to make a bible long post otherwise I know you will get bored.
